Writing

Why We Write Our Stories

A reflection on why putting our experiences into words can help us — and others — make sense of them.

Stories have always been one of the ways people make sense of the world. When we write down what we have lived through, we give shape to experiences that can otherwise feel scattered or overwhelming.

Writing as reflection

Putting thoughts on paper creates a little distance. It lets us look again at a moment, notice what we missed, and see how far we have come.

Writing as connection

A story shared honestly often reaches someone who needed to hear that they are not alone. Many readers find courage in words written by someone who walked a similar road.
